Capitol riots: Ivanka Trump deletes tweet telling ‘American patriots’ to …

Ivanka Trump has been forced to backtrack after deleting a tweet calling on ‘American Patriots’ to be peaceful, amid violence protests at the Capitol building.

President Donald Trump’s daughter had initially tweeted of the ugly scenes in Washington DC: ‘American Patriots – any security breach or disrespect to our law enforcement is unacceptable. The violence must stop immediately. Please be peaceful.’

But, after she was questioned as to whether she believed the violent demonstrators were patriots, Ms Trump responded: ‘No. Peaceful protest is patriotic. Violence is unacceptable and must be condemned in the strongest terms.’

Pro-Trump supporters have stormed the Capitol building and the floor of the US Senate in incidents condemned by President-elect Joe Biden as an ‘unprecedented assault on democracy’. He added: ‘the world is watching’.

Ms Trump’s father eventually told protesters to ‘go home’, but did not condemn them, and added ‘we love you’. Read from source….
