NYPD search for hooded suspect in rape of woman, 27, in her apartment

Police are searching for a hooded suspect in connection with the rape of a 27-year-old woman who was choked unconscious in her New York City apartment on Wednesday.

The young woman answered the door to her Midtown Manhattan home just before noon to a man posing as a delivery driver and was immediately attacked.

Investigators are now on the hunt for a suspect who was seen on CCTV before and after the attack wearing a bright yellow and blue bubble jacket with their hood up.

Authorities said the woman believed she was getting a package delivered when the attacker started choking her in her home near East 30th Street and Third Avenue.

In a statement released today, the police said the woman opened the door to an unknown man who stated he was there to deliver a package.

As she opened the door he pushed his way in and she was choked until she lost consciousness.

When she woke up the man was raping her both vaginally and anally, police said.

After the assault the man then forced her to hand over her bank cards and pin number before fleeing the scene.

The victim rang the emergency services and she was taken to Bellevue Hospital for treatment.

The individual is described as a dark-skinned male, approximately 18-28 years old, 6ft tall and was last seen wearing a yellow and blue reversible bubble jacket, light colored pants with a vertical stripe down side and light colored sneakers.

The attack comes just two days after a 19-year-old woman was raped at knifepoint in Brooklyn.

New York City police are searching for the man who was captured on surveillance footage in the area.

Police said the suspect approached the woman from behind near East New York Avenue and Ralph Avenue in Brooklyn just after midnight on Monday.

She told police the man held a kitchen knife to her throat and threatened to kill her if she resisted. Read from source….
